IRNSS is a regional system, whereas GPS is global. IRNSS is useful both in civilian and strategic domainS. Kalyanaraman It could provide navigational support to various military requirements like ground, sea and aerial movement; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) activities; target identification and assistance in launching of weapon systemS.
