Rather than hampering the Russian war effort against Ukraine, the sanctions imposed by the West appear to be affecting a large number of people across the developing world. South Asian countries are facing political and economic instability, so it’s hardly surprising that the sanctions are extremely unpopular among the people, says Dr Kumar.
