Research Fellow, Manohar Parrikar IDSA, Dr. Jagannath Panda’s co-authored book chapter ‘Between Business and Balance: India-Japan in Africa vis-a-vis China’ has been published in Kenneth King and Meera Venkatachalam (eds.) India’s Development Diplomacy & Soft Power in Africa (James Currey: Boydell & Brewer; UK & USA).
The chapter argues that though at a nascent stage, the India-Japan partnership in Africa has mostly been aimed at augmenting India and Japan’s national interests while promoting a ‘liberal and value-based order’ in the wider Indo-Pacific, ensuring a region devoid of autarkic and unilateral policies.
