RT to Discuss India’s Relations with Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and Burma Organised

A five member delegation headed by the Swedish State Secretary for Foreign Affairs, Frank Belfrage visited IDSA for a roundtable on, ‘India’s Regional Role and Relations to Afghanistan, Pakistan, China and Burma’, on March 2, 2012. Other Swedish participants were Ambassador of Sweden to India, His Excellency Lars-Olof Lindgren, Deputy Director Kristin Forsgren Bengtsson, Deputy Director Andreas Ershammar and First Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Alexandra Berg von Linde. IDSA Scholars, Dr. Ashok Behuria, Mr. Vishal Chandra, Dr. Udai Bhanu Singh, Dr. RN. Das and Brig. Mandip Singh made brief presentations on Pakistan, Afghanistan, Burma, and China respectively. Mr. Belfrage explained Sweden’s views on Europe, the impending EU and India Free Trade Agreement, on Middle East crisis, etc. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Director General, IDSA, Dr. Arvind Gupta with the Swedish Defence Research Agency, Stockholm.
